On June 25 2016 The Barrie Gun Club will hold the Third Annual Shoot for a Cure with proceeds benefiting the Huronia Motorcycle Ride For Dad’s fight against prostate cancer through it’s prostate cancer fight foundation! Men and Women of all ages with little to no firearms experience were able to try their hand in skeet, handgun, shotgun & AR Tactical type rifles! All while supervised by knowledgeable instructors in a safe and friendly environment.
Participants paid $40 dollars which included entry and 10 rounds with each firearm as well as prize draws. Additional rounds were available for a small donation, and a cash BBQ was provided by Sizzlers. The entire proceeds for the day went to support prostate cancer research and awareness right here in Ontario!
For this inaugural event we had 110 participants despite the cold weather, and I’m thrilled to report we raised an astonishing $5,230.00 in a single day!
In addition to the money raised, it’s just as important to note that everyone in attendance had a great time. Despite the cold, smiles were present from ear to ear as participants enjoyed shooting for the first time. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who came out, the sponsors, the volunteers and anyone who dropped off a donation.
I can’t wait to see you all in June!
